The Monroe County Medical Society’s Integrative Health Care Committee will host the 6th Annual Jeffrey K. Harris, M.D., Memorial Integrative Health Care Series on Saturday, October 27, 2012. This year the seminar, “Integrative Approaches to Mental Health,” will be held at Rochester General Hospital from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM in the TWIG Auditorium.
Presentations have such titles as: Herbs for Mental Health and Vitality; The Role of Mind and Spirit in Healing: Western and Eastern Perspectives; Spirituality, Shamanism and the DSM IV; Creating Joy in the Body: Exercise and Mental Health; Are We Treating Mental or Nutritional Disorders; and Thermal Biofeedback for the Treatment of Anxiety and Chronic Pain Syndromes. The seminar introduces attendees to current concepts in the movement towards integration of traditional western medicine and various healing modalities, with emphasis on patient-centered and highly individualized care.
Registration fees vary: students can waive the $30 fee by volunteering; professionals seeking CE credit before October 10 pay $120 and after that $140; professionals and others who do not want CE credit can register for $60 before October 10 and $80 after that date. The registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
