Move over Roget’s; here comes Visuwords™. This visual thesaurus is not only lots of fun (I find myself looking for excuses to look up synonyms), but it’s also free!
Visuwords™ uses an opensource database built by Princeton University students and language researchers.
Described as “a thesaurus reimagined as a toy” in Time.com’s review of the 50 best websites of 2009, Visuwords™ takes any word you input and creates a swirling solar system of word planets around it. “The words careen off one another like balls on a billiard table until they settle down, at which point you can set them in motion again.”
Hey! What’s another word for “motion”? Guess I’ll look it up in Visuwords™!
